Chris Sale's Season Officially Ends After Breaking His Wrist During a Bike Accident Concluding Some of the Strangest Four Years An Athlete Can Have
???
This fucking guy. Chris Sale has had just about the weirdest few years I can remember from an athlete. Let's recap! Before the 2019 season Sale signed a 5 year $145 million deal from the Red Sox. From that point on shit completely went haywire. He went on to have the worst year of his career, posting a 4.40 ERA over 147.1 innings. On August 17th he went on the IL with elbow inflammation which eventually shut him down for the season. He then showed up to camp in 2020 with pneumonia. About a month later Sale underwent TJ surgery and that caused him to miss all of 2020 and most of 2021.
Sale then showed up to 2022 spring training with a rib fracture he got from throwing batting practice at Florida Gulf Coast University. What?? That found him on the 60 day IL. There were also reports he was going through some other issues that some speculated had more to do with the mental side. Eventually he got into some rehab starts and that resulted in him destroying the Woo Sox clubhouse after he walked a few guys.
Total normal behavior, nothing to be concerned about. The Red Sox will tell you that's just Sale being a competitor! "That's our Chris!" Yeah totally..
Sale eventually made it back to the big leagues, but in his second start Aaron Hicks took his pinky off with this rocket back up the middle.
And while rehabbing his broken pinky Sale fell off a bike and broke his wrist as seen below with this exclusive footage
Ladies and gentlemen, Chris Sale. What a wonderful last four years it's been and a well earned $62 million earned in that time if I may add! Dude is gonna turn some Sox fans into the Joker if he's not careful.
Can't wait to see if Sale picks up his $27 million (adjusted to $17.5 mill) player option in 2023.
