After Releasing Elvis Andrus Today, The Oakland A's Highest Paid Active Player Makes $2.27 Million

Heading into today the Oakland A's highest paid player on their active roster was 33 year old infielder Elvis Andrus, who was making a whopping $7 million. As Danny Vietti noted, the A's were on the verge of cutting Andrus in the coming days. 

That happened today…

That means the highest paid player on the A's active roster is now Chad Pinder (.657 OPS) who makes $2.27 million. That just cannot happen. Ignore Andrus now and just look at their highest paid players in the graphic below. I mean what are we doing here? 

Their owner is a crook by the name of John J. Fisher and he's the very same scumbag who stopped paying minor leaguers during the heart of covid just to save a million dollars.

Fisher's net worth? Oh just $2.5 billion. His parents founded the retail clothing giant Gap while he also co-founded an investment firm called Sansome Partners. A guy like that, with so much money, should not be running the Oakland A's like this. 

 Ownership and team's main objectives are such a problem in today's game. The sport desperately needs a salary floor to force guys like Fisher to spend. If you're gonna run a baseball team like Fisher is doing with the A's you should simply be doing something else with your money. The fans don't deserve this shit. Go invest in some cool shit like any other rich dude. Let someone who loves baseball get in there and try to put a competitive team on the field everyday.
