A new episode of Cracking Aces dropped this week with poker + life advice from our resident professional, Jake Toole. He reviewed a couple of Mintzy's hand histories, answered poker strategy DMs, talked about his life goals after poker, and we discussed competing in a triathlon.

And then today, the largest bad beat jackpot in US history hit for a smooth $1.2 million:

For those who don't understand what a Bad Beat Jackpot (BBJ) is, when a super premium hand (most casinos say quad jacks or better) loses to an even better hand (better quads, straight flushes, royal flushes), a bad beat jackpot is activated, which builds for weeks, months, or even years until it finally happens. Then all the money (it's collected along side the rake) is split between the participants of the hand, with the loser of the hand (in this case quad aces) getting the lion's share of the BBJ, the winner getting the 2nd highest share, and the rest of the table splitting the remaining amount evenly, just for being there.

In this case it went 40% to the loser, or $490,708, 30% to the winner, or $368,029, and the 6 other players each got $61,338 just for being in the right place at the right time. It's the biggest BBJ in United States history.
