In Front Of An Electric US Open Crowd, Serena Williams Takes Out The World No. 2 Anett Kontaveit And Staves Off Retirement

Wow. Honestly I never saw that kind of performance coming from a 40 year old Serena Williams at this point in her career. 110+ mph serves, pretty good movement, and the ability to up her level in a deciding 3rd set? Wild. And it all coming against the world no. 2 Anett Kontaveit? Bonkers.

Something I didn't take into account was how insane these crowds were gonna be. It's gotta be so intimidating to step on the court as the opponent to Serena during this tournament. Ashe tonight was ELECTRIC. You could tell Kontaveit just crumbled mentally in that decider trying to battle Serena on her last stand and a crowd that did not want her career to end right there. Did not see her coming back like that after a brutal second set and raising her game like that. That was some vintage Serena shit.

Tiger Woods was going NUTS.

At this point if Tiger had a golf tournament to play in this weekend I think he's bowing out to be in the crowd for his friend.

That was all just an awesome sports moment. See? Tennis can be fun. We'll do it all again Friday night with an even more juiced up crowd.

*whispers…could Serena actually win this whole thing??
