We Need More Big Fellas Returning Kicks In Football

Some of you might be old enough to remember a time when kickoffs in football were exciting. There was a time when they were arguably the most electrifying play in sports. Any given kick could get returned to the house on a game breaking 98-yard return. Guys like Devin Hester, Brian Mitchell, Josh Cribbs. Some of the most feared men in the game because if you kicked the ball in their general direction, there's a good chance 6 points were about to go up on the board 10 seconds later.

But over the years the kick return has been brutally sacrificed in the name of "player safety". The kickoff has essentially been neutered to a formality at this point with the majority of them being touchbacks. So it's time for a change. It's time to make the most exciting play in football great again. And I know just the man to get the job done.

Missouri State's 6'0" 298lb D-lineman Siale Suliafu. The biggest wrecking ball in all of football right now. Dude is built like a brick shithouse, and my goodness can the big fella move. He's quick, he's nimble, and there's not a man on this planet who can take him down on his own.

Maybe that's the key right there. Maybe we don't necessarily need 100-yard returns anymore. Maybe we just need 20-30 yards of pure carnage from the big boys. Let's move the kickoffs back to the 30, but every team needs to put a D-lineman back there to return the kick. At the very least, you can't return a kick unless you're over 265lbs. Let the units get a little shine here for once in a while. Just imagine how big of a star Jordan Davis will turn out to be when he breaks loose and takes one to the house.

All I'm saying is that Siale Suliafu might have just changed the game forever with one majestic 34-yard return.
