Donovan Mitchell Saying He Thought He Was 'For Sure Coming Back Home' To The Knicks Is Cruel And Unusual Punishment

Oh cool, cool. I mean it's not 'shocking' at least with him saying this. Pretty sure everyone in the world thought he was coming back home to the Knicks. I've made peace with what happened and frankly I'm fine with it. Mitchell is a good player, but I don't want another Melo situation - and I like Melo. By that I mean I don't want to mortgage the future for a player who doesn't make you a title contender. Mitchell with the Knicks group makes them a playoff team, but they aren't better than like a 4 seed? Maybe a 2 seed if the regular season goes right and they get hot.

But saying this is cruel and unusual punishment for the Knicks fans everywhere. Why? Because we have to hear 'same old Knicks.' It didn't matter what happened with Mitchell it was going to be that. Either the Knicks gave up too much or the Jazz sent Mitchell somewhere else. And you know what? Fine. I'm ready to battle everyone who says that whenever the Knicks do/don't do something.

You know what else? There's always going to be a Donovan Mitchell linked to the Knicks.

That was right after the Mitchell trade. Now we're on Shai watch. Then if that doesn't happen we're on someone else. Rinse, repeat. It's the life of a Knicks fan.

Now as for Mitchell and the trade? There's this story out there too:

It's all part of the game. I bet Danny Ainge wanted the farm because that's what Danny Ainge does. He tries to ask for everything and anything. He got a decent haul from Cleveland too. It's clear he wants picks and young pieces - hence why he got back Agbaji and Kessler from both the Mitchell and Gobert trades.

But I didn't need to hear this. We all knew you expected to come back home. We've moved onto Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (for now).
