In An Attempt To Pay Tribute To Title IX, South Carolina Football Paraded Female Students On The Field....For An Entire 15 Seconds Before They Were Screamed At And Kicked Off

Here's a story over the weekend that flew a little under the radar but should be catching a few more eyeballs.

At the end of the first quarter in the South Carolina vs Georgia game, with his team already down 14-0, Shane Beamer was caught on camera going ballistic for an unknown delay on the field in the end zone.

It would later come out, that South Carolina asked all female student athletes to come to the game and be celebrated on the field for the 50th anniversary of Title IX. That news can via Jyllissa Harris, a women's soccer player for The Gamecocks.

She voiced how disappointing it was to be asked to be celebrated, only to be rushed off the field.

Shane Beamer apologized in the postgame after the situation was brought up.

Football Scoop - "We had a critical, critical fourth-down decision to make. The whole time I'm not even paying attention to what's going on down in the end zone."

"We were so immersed in trying to make a decision on what we were going to do. I was worried about what was going on in our own offensive huddle."

"I apologize to anyone that I offended. That was just my initial reaction."

Twitter replies came hard for Beamer after the incident

but also came hard at the Ops department who organized what was supposed to be an awesome event in a tight window of time.

The underrated funniest part of this whole story is that if Beamer was so fixated on 4th down he for sure ran a terrific play and moved the sticks right ? Or at least ran a play that was long enough to get the 9 yards they needed right ?

WRONG …

In all seriousness, Beamer has been a major advocate for women's athletics and often shouts them out in his press conferences any chance he gets. It seems like it was an error in judgement from a frustrated coach in a game where his team was getting their ass kicked. Granted, he didn't help himself with how he acted, but I think it's safe to say Beamer wasn't looking to embarrass female athletes on the field.
