BYU's Greeters For Opposing Teams Might Be The Most Secretly Diabolical Gimmick In College Football
Don't let the Mormons fool you; this is a ploy.
When Arkansas gets off the bus in Tuscaloosa or Baton Rouge, there are nothing but obnoxious drunkards yelling the most vile insults you can think of. But in Provo, you get a group of nice old men giving you fist bumps and saying they just hope both teams have a good time.
This is clearly designed to throw opponents off their game. Does anyone believe BYU prioritizes Mormon hospitality over winning football games? Of course not. That's a proud football program. This is meant to gain a competitive edge.
The Arkansas players probably don't even realize they've been psyched out, either — that's the brilliance of the greeters. It's subtle enough to infiltrate the brain subconsciously. The Razorbacks will be lifeless in warm-ups and won't know why.
BYU -1 is the play.
