Matthew Perry Admits He Was In Love With Jennifer Aniston Before & During Friends

NY Post- Matthew Perry revealed that he had a big crush on Jennifer Aniston – both before and during “Friends” – but she allegedly turned him down. In his new memoir, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” the actor writes that he met Aniston prior to filming the hit sitcom and was “immediately taken” by her presence. Perry remembers at one point calling up Aniston and trying to impress her with exciting news that he booked two acting roles. “It was clear that this made her think I liked her too much, or in the wrong kind of way,” he writes in the book, out Nov. 1. Still, he proceeded to ask her out. Perry claims Aniston declined the offer and suggested they just be friends instead, to which he blurted out, “[We] can’t be friends!”

WELL! This is certainly a plot twist and a half when it comes to the behind the scenes of the cast of Friends who since the show ended basically seem, much like it was on the show, they all loved each other in some sort of facet. That set might as well have been a faculty or bar staff the way it seems with all the stories you hear of obviously Schwimmer and Aniston having feelings for each other though this was something we haven't heard yet from Matthew Perry. On one hand could you blame him for having feelings for Aniston if he knew her before the show? Of course not...it's Jennifer Aniston for christ's sake. She's the most beautiful girl on the planet with an unbelievable personality.

But my GOD does that sound awkward once the show begins? SHEESH my guy! You finally get your breakout job offer and next thing you know you gotta deal with a girl you unsuccessfully tried to hit on a few years ago? Not the best.

Unfortunately for Perry, his feelings for Aniston continued throughout the making of “Friends.” He says he frequently found himself over analyzing every casual interaction the two of them had.

Perry’s feelings for Aniston slowly but surely went away due to both the show’s success and her continued “deafening lack of interest” – although they did share an onscreen kiss on the Season 3 episode “The One with the Flashback.”

The “Whole Nine Yards” star wrote that by the time Aniston had begun dating Brad Pitt in 1998, he had “long since gotten over her” and figured out how to interact with her “without it being awkward.”

Awkward interaction after awkward interaction after awkward interaction. Glad to see that he powered through though especially due to the fact that she began dating Brad Pitt in 1998. I'd be ready to throw in the towel if my lady started dating Brad Pitt in the year 2038 let alone in 1998. That's game, set, match. Maybe Perry and Aniston will get together now at a later age, right? I believe they're both single, so I'm rooting for it.
