The Netflix Employee Who Tried To Cancel Dave Chappelle Is Now Back On The Internet Attacking SNL For Letting Him Host
Source - “Saturday Night Live” is facing backlash after it was announced comedian Dave Chappelle will host the show Nov. 12.
Chappelle, who was slammed for making statements about the trans community in his 2021 special “The Closer,” was revealed as the host through the show’s Twitter account.
“Wait I thought I canceled him. Is it possible cancel culture isn’t a real thing,” tweeted ex-Netflix employee Terra Field.
Field, who was co-vice president of Netflix’s transgender employee resource group, resigned from the streaming platform in November last year in protest over the comedy special and later led a walkout, according to Newsweek.
Wait...she's still mad about this? Dave Chappelle's jokes STILL have real estate in her head? How is that possible? You'd think if someone was so upset over something they'd want to move on from it, not stew like a psychopath. Other people were equally as upset...
“Having Dave Chappelle host SNL again is a slap in the face to trans people, including one of their own new cast members,” tweeted another. “What the h–l Lorne?!”
“I love SNL. I’ve been a fan all my life. But having Dave Chappelle on as host is not the move. You have your first non-binary cast member ever and then you book an proud and open transphobe. What a disappointment,” tweeted @SeanAltly.
Although I would have to imagine the majority or people simply do not give a shit. I mean why would they? Dave Chappelle is funny, yes, but it's going to take a lot more than him to fix SNL. Also, it's not like he's gonna go on the show and rip a bunch of trans jokes to get a reaction. I think he learned his lesson. These people seem to agree…
Others — fans and some who consider him a champion of free speech — were happy the comedian was hosting with musical guest Black Star.
“Dave Chappelle and Black Star? Im actually excited,” tweeted one person.
Twitter user @CainMcCoy called it a “must watch.” “Dave Chappelle and Black Star (Yasiin Bey/Mos Def and Talib Kweli) finna be on an American television institution days after Election Day.”
“Dave Chappelle hosting SNL is gonna be great. I love when people defy peoples attempt to destroy them over nonsense. This will be even better than Kim K hosting,” tweeted another.
The entire situation is tired and I'm glad the pendulum is finally starting to swing on people like Terra Field. The world doesn't need joke police. Your feelings don't matter. Voice your opinion and move on. Life is too short to spend your days monitoring what others say. Doing so makes you an asshole. That's really I have have to say on this one. Thank god the cancel culture movement is almost over. Have a great day.
