Meta Is Hosting A Virtual Reality Concert Featuring A "Hyper-Realistic" Avatar Of The Notorious B.I.G.
SOURCE - The Notorious B.I.G., 25 years after his death, will be resurrected as a “true-to-life, hyperrealistic” avatar in a virtual-reality concert coming exclusively to Meta’s VR and Facebook platforms.
Produced in collaboration with the Notorious B.I.G. Estate, the concert will feature Biggie’s avatar performing classics from his catalog and leading fans on a VR experience in Meta Horizon Worlds in a virtual recreation of ’90s Brooklyn called “The Brook.” The Notorious B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was murdered in 1997 at the age of 24.
I'm sure this won't be weird or creepy at all. Especially with Mark Zuckerberg involved.
Is this what Meta is supposed to be? A place to watch avatars of dead celebrities while we pretend we are at a concert when in reality, we are sitting on couches wearing weird headgear? The good news is Biggie's family was involved with this so hopefully that add some humanity to this. I don't exactly have a ton of confidence in Mark Zuckerberg on that front.
If it was just the avatar putting on a concert, it would be weird but they've been using old footage of dead people to sell shit in commercials for decades now. At some point materialism trumped mortality. But to have him "spend the day" in what Zuckerberg and Meta perceive 1990's Brooklyn to be seems incredibly corny.
People on Twitter seemed as impressed as I was.
In shocking news, P. Diddy is involved and will make making an appearance during this "concert". If that news surprises you in any way, I don't know what to tell you. But if you don't know, now you know.
