Matt Rhule Is Working On A Deal To Become Nebraska's Next Head Coach
It looks like Nebraska will soon have its next head coach in former Baylor and Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule.
Obviously nobody has any idea how a hire will work out until you see the product on the field, but I think every single Nebraska fan would have taken Rhule if given the option on the day Scott Frost was fired. Rhule didn't gel in the NFL, but he's proven to be a pretty damn good college coach at Temple and Baylor and is definitely capable of reviving Nebraska. Anybody who can lead Temple to back-to-back 10-win seasons can certainly win in Lincoln.
This hire being pretty successful seems like just a matter of if the Cornhuskers are truly cursed at this point or not. If Rhule isn't able to generate any sort of momentum after a few years in Lincoln, I'm not sure who short of Nick Saban or Urban Meyer could restore that program to its former glory. Rhule is definitely a good enough coach to take advantage of the resources there and have the Cornhuskers back in the Top 25 relatively soon, though.
I guess we'll find out soon enough.
