McDonald's Is Giving Away 12 McGold Cards That Entitles People To Free McDonald's For Life

via McDonald's

CNN- For the holidays, McDonald’s is giving away free meals for life. Well, sort of. Beginning December 5, every order completed in the McDonald’s app for at least $1 will enter customers into a contest to win a McGold Card. Three winners will get a special card that earns them free McDonald’s for life. Plus, each winner will get three extra cards to give away for a total of 12 cards being won.

The McGold Card has been around for years, with some heavy hitters reportedly holding them, including Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and actor Rob Lowe.

“Our fans have been fascinated by the lore of the McGold Card and if it really exists. And now, we’ll make this McDonald’s legend a reality for our fans by giving them the ultimate holiday gift – a chance to win a card and then share access to it with three of their family or friends,” said Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA chief marketing officer in a release.

Look at Ronald McDonald throwing a Willy Wonka hat on top of his clown suit and getting into the golden giveaway business! I guess there is something to be said that a bunch of normies like you and I having a chance to own a McGold Card like fancy pants Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, or Rob Lowe kinda diminishes the value of such a prestigious honor for a card I wasn't sure even existed until just now.

But I say fuck that. McDonald's is built on the back of the common man and woman that clog their drive thrus every day. Us working class folk deserve a chance at tasting gold as much as those rich and handsome folks (I don't understand how Rob Lowe got a McGold Card unless it was for being devastatingly handsome, in which case he clearly deserves one).

Now when I say free McDonald's for life, you may think you pretty much have access to all the Big Macs, Chicken McNuggets and Royale With Cheeses your heart can handle like a real life version of the Richie Rich mansion, which was every 90s kids dream.

HOWEVAH, the fine print says that is not exactly the case.

In 2018, McDonald’s issued a few gold cards during a contest, but the winner was eligible to get “only” two free meals a week for 50 years. That rule applies to this year’s promotion too, which ends on December 25.

I was about to complain about two free meals a week for 50 years being kiiiiiiinda bullshit considering that is nowhere near free McDonald's for life. But I think we can all agree that hammering down Mickey D's every single meal would probably severely hinder your chances of making it another 50 years.

Besides, having a McGold Card isn't about being able to get McDonald's whenever you want. A simple job can take care of that. Having a McGold Card about being able to flex carrying the same thing in your wallet only Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Rob Lowe, and whatever mamalukes won this contest have in their wallets then ordering a free 20 piece McNuggets with large fries and a large Orange Drink just because you can (Or if you want to get crazy, mix that Orange Drink with McDonald's signature extra spicy Sprite for a delightful treat).

So all in all, I approve this giveaway. Doubly so if McDonald's gives me my own McGold Card, which my wife will not let me keep since I won't make it alive 50 years, months, or even days if I have it in my possession.

P.S. I had to look up how Rob Lowe got a McGold Card since Buffett and Gates makes sense with Buffett ordering it every damn day and Gates selling potatoes for their fries.

Yahoo- The mysterious “McGold Card” came into the spotlight when actor Rob Lowe flashed his on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2015. Lowe didn’t get his just for being famous, though—he also happens to be friends with David Peterson, who owns and operates six McDonald’s locations in California and whose dad invented the Egg McMuffin

Glad to see a guy like Rob Lowe finally catch a break in life. He deserves it.
