Blake Corum Will Have Knee Surgery And Is Out For The Season
Damn, this sucks. Michigan running back and Heisman contender Blake Corum will have season-ending knee surgery and miss the College Football Playoff.
Corum rushed for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns in essentially 11 games in 2022. He tried to gut it out against Ohio State, but carried the ball just twice for six yards before shutting it down. We'll find out next week if Corum is invited to New York as a Heisman finalist.
If there's any silver lining for Michigan fans, the Wolverines looked just fine with Donovan Edwards carrying the ball 22 times for 216 yards and two touchdowns last week. Ohio State certainly isn't Georgia defensively, but if Edwards can step in and put up those numbers in the most important game of the season, he should be just fine going forward.
This sucks for all college football fans, though. If we get undefeated Michigan and Georgia in the national title game, I want to see both teams at full strength. Hopefully Edwards is able to replace most of Corum's production moving into the Big Ten Championship Game and CFP, but this takes some of the luster off the rest of the season.
