Today Showed Even The Biggest Soccer Hater In The World Why This Sport Is Fucking Awesome

How could you not enjoy today's two quarterfinals matches? I don't care what you think about soccer we had everything you wanted. Come backs, dramatics, a skirmish, ridiculous goals, penalty kicks, the legend Messi and an upset. It's what we all in America go crazy for in sports. It started with the Brazil/Croatia match with everyone assuming this Neymar goal won it:

Only for Croatia to score with less than 5 minutes to go:

Made up for that 0-0 start. Then we had Messi vs Netherlands. Let me be more specific. It was the Messi show (for the first 82 minutes). This pass is absurd

A PK even

We even had a little skirmish which was perfect for the event

And then a goal basically at the buzzer

Two matches, both delivered. Just an awesome day and even better for a weekday event in America. We got to avoid work, sit around, whatever and watch this. Again, it hit every detail we love in sports. Upsets, legends, ridiculous finishes and mayhem. That's the only I can really describe today. Chaos.

We can argue about PKs. That's not the point of this blog. But both matches got to the final deciding factor soccer can - on the world's biggest stage. If you didn't enjoy today you have a gigantic Chicago office door style shit in your pants. What a day. Let's run it back tomorrow - although I really wish the quarters were Thursday/today. Let tomorrow be Army/Navy and college hoops.
