Against All Odds, This Wobbly Browns Fan Does Not Fall Or Projectile Vomit But Instead Becomes An Inspiration
Every once in a while you witness a feat so astounding, so awe-inspiring, that it reminds you just how amazing the human sprit truly can be. Someone climbing Mt. Everest. A person running coast to coast. A brave soul sailing across the ocean by themselves. This guy at the Browns vs Bengals game.
Swaying and oscillating like a seedling in a turbulent storm, the limits of his balance are tested. And even though the winds of Browns' failures may have toppled him emotionally, they are not strong enough to take him down physically. His shoes are rooted firmly to the earth by sticky substances on the cement and sheer willpower. He is stronger than any one football team's ineptitude.
For 34 agonizing seconds we are left in suspense. Pondering so many questions:
Will this mighty warrior survive his intense battle with gravity?
Are his eyelids strong enough to withstand the onslaught of fatigue?
Did he venture on this journey alone or was he left behind by cowardice companions?
Will the copious amounts of Whiteclaw he has consumed be making a return to the field of play?
And then, as if by some miracle from above, he awakes from his upright slumber. He rubs the side of his weary body and then takes another swig from his frosty beverage. A majestic scene indeed.
The soundtrack of ABBA in the background could not be more fitting. As if the scene was scored by Martin Scorsese himself.
Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away? Gimme, gimme, gimme a man after midnight Take me through the darkness to the break of the dayThis man felt these lyrics deep down in his soul. Even if it was the only thing he could feel in that moment.
This is the look of a man who has battled for years through the darkness of Browns fandom and just needs a glimmer of hope. A man who would give anything for a winning football team. Including his liver.
A man, who against all odds, stayed upright in the face unsurmountable adversity. Truly a "stand up" guy.
God bless you wobbly Browns fan. For you are the inspiration we all need when times get tough. If you can stay upright, so can we.
