Watching Connor McDavid Make A Complete Mockery Out Of The NHL Will Never Get Old

The saying goes "don't bring a knife to a gunfight". But what if it's not a gun that you're up against? What if it's a nuclear thermal turbo rocket that leaves a wake of chaos and destruction in its path? You can at least have a fighting chance bringing a knife to a gunfight. But when you're up against something like that, you're getting obliterated into a million little pieces before you can even blink.

Which seems to be the case for NHL defensemen on a nightly basis whenever they're out on the ice against Connor McDavid.

When you watch that video there's nothing…overly incredible about that highlight. Which is precisely what makes it so sick. Connor McDavid shouldn't be able to make it look that easy to be so much faster than everybody else on the ice. A goal like this has no business looking that casual. But it's every single night. He takes a few crossovers through his own zone to build up speed, picks up the puck in the neutral zone, slices his way through an entire team, and puts the puck in the back of the net before the goalie even has a chance to realize what's going on.

It happens every night. Connor McDavid has had more games this season where he has scored 4 points than games when he's scored 0. Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is? Last night was his 6th 4-point performance of the season. 26 goals and 59 points through 30 games. You'd think you'd get tired of seeing the same exact highlight over and over again, but how can you get sick of this?

Again, it's just so casual. It's like when you watch an NFL receiver or running back's highlights from high school. The ones where they have like 400 yards and 6 touchdowns per game. Only McDavid is doing that at the highest level of his sport. It's just complete and total domination.

Speaking of complete and total domination--as much as I don't think Leon Draisaitl contributed to that play at all, he still picked up on assist on the goal. He ended the night with 2 goals and 3 assist. That now gives him 20 goals and 30 points in his last 10 games against Nashville.

I guess it's true that these two guys aren't human. Because this matchup is looking more like Alien vs Predator, amirite???
