Gardner Minshew Completes One Of The Most Pitiful Performances In Eagles History, Once Again Proves Why Jalen Hurts Is The MVP

Fun little New Years fact of the day for all you boys and girls back home--Gardner Minshew? This dude blows.

I mean holy shit. It would be damn near impossible for he and this Eagles team to have a more pathetic Sunday. Granted, there was the big 78-yard AJ Brown touchdown. But that was all AJ Brown being too big, too strong, and too fast. If it weren't for that moment right there, this might easily go down as the worst performance of all time.

The defense couldn't get off the field in the 1st half. An opening drive for New Orleans that went 75 yards in 15 plays and over 8 minutes of clock. The Eagles offense couldn't do a goddamn thing and they didn't even get their first 1st down of the day until the final minute of the 2nd half. And then when the defense finally figured out their shit in the 2nd half and gave Gardner Minshew opportunity after opportunity to prove himself to be at least somewhat competent?

Jesus Christ. This was the type of game that will end up costing Gardner Minshew millions of dollars. I don't know how any GM can watch this game today and think Gardner Minshew could possibly be the answer to their organization's quarterback issues. He cost himself millions. He cost the Eagles a chance to lock up the 1-seed in the NFC. And he also cost the Eagles a worse draft pick they'll be receiving from New Orleans later in the spring. Holy shit I couldn't be more thankful that this was the last time we'll ever have to watch him in an Eagles uniform again.

And again, there is simply no way you can say that Jalen Hurts is not the MVP of the National Football League after today. After the Dallas game there were still idiots out there who just look at the box score and said that Gardner putting up 350+ yards was proof that any quarterback can step into this Eagles system and do well. I'd argue he was even more detrimental in that game than he was today against New Orleans, because at least today everybody looked like shit. Against Dallas he lost that game because defenses don't have to worry about him as a dual threat. They don't have to worry about him creating any special plays on his own. At the end of the day, they needed a special play against Dallas and they didn't have a guy who could get it done. Today, all they needed was a guy who could rush for 1-yard and they didn't have a guy who could get that done.

Disgusting stuff all around. The coaching staff. The 1st half defense. The O-line jumping like 7 different times in the 2nd half. The officiating crew calling that holding penalty on Landon Dickerson. Just an awful, awful, awful game.

But thank god for Jalen Hurts. He'll come back next week and all will be right with the world again. Back to the most lethal offense in football. Back to having the leader who will get all these idiots to lock in and get the job done. Back to having the MVP of the National Football League leading the way and getting the men home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Thanks for the memories, Gardner. Smell ya later.
