The Streets Of Sicily Erupted In Cheers After A Mafia Boss Was Arrested After 30 YEARS On The Run

30 years and they've got him. Early today in Palermo, Sicilian police arrested Matteo Messina Denaro, the reputed head of the extremely powerful Sicilian Mafia. He has been a fugitive since 1993 after it's believed he was involved with bomb attacks that killed Italian prosecutors. He has led a HUGE group that's among the most powerful criminal syndicates in not just Europe but the world.

He grew up with the Mafia in his blood, as his father was a big time boss in Sicily as well.

Many people say Matteo had committed multiple murders by 18 and once bragged that he "killed over 50 people". He built a vast network in the drug game, collected millions of dollars in protection money and also had legit businesses in supermarkets and other ventures. It was said he became the boss of the organization after former boss Bernardo Provenzano  was arrested in 2006. He is literally one of the most wanted people on the planet and extremely dangerous. That said as we know in these huge criminal operations someone will slot right in, but this is a huge arrest of a violent and depraved person who once strangled a pregnant woman to death.

He has literally been a ghost not seen since the early 90's, and likely through informants they broke through locating him. On Monday, he went into the capital of Sicily to a medical clinic and was seen having a coffee at a café and was taken into custody. He allegedly was receiving therapeutics for cancer through a fake name at the medical facility for a year. He has previously undergone multiple plastic surgeries to alter his appearance. Now he will likely die in a Sicilian prison.
