Villanova +8.5 Was An All-Time Bad Beat Last Night

As if the ending of the first half wasn't enough drama

Villanova and Marquette decided they wanted to double down and give some sweats. at the end of the game as well.

What a nightmare. Wide open missed dunk, you can't ask for an easier way to cover. If you had Marquette you knew it was coming, no interest on D. Just a matter of if Villanova pulled up for a wide open three or went all the way to the cup. They decided to drive it in for maybe the easiest dunk of all time, and couldn't connect. Nightmare for Nova backers.

I came away from this game

1. Lucky I didn't bet it

and

2. Really really impressed with Marquette. Shaka Smart seems to have found his groove at Marquette. He made the tournament last year, and is really building a title contender this year. He has the nation's most efficient offense on Kenpom, a team that shoots a nation's best 60.1% of 2pt fg's, 5 guys who score in double digits, and a battle tested team who waxed Baylor and lost to Purdue by just 5. In fact their 5 losses are by a combined 20 points.

Kam Jones is great but I like the kid Tyler Kolek the most of the bunch. He seems like he will be the guy to rise up in a big moment in the tournament.

Reminder … Marquette still 40-1 to cut down the nets via the Barstool Sportsbook
