Bad News For The Beam Team: This Young, Naive Kings Fan Might've Triggered The Wrath Of Steph Curry
I totally get why Greenie wouldn't want to touch this story with a 10-foot pole. Still probably shaken from what Steph Curry did to the Celtics in Boston during Game 4 of last year's NBA Finals. Some sort of bad vibes/jinx situation going on there. Best to stay away.
Me on the other hand? I'm so here for this. Steph was about to be left for dead when he started coming off the bench during last year's postseason. Still can't believe that happened. The greatest shooter of all-time initially relegated to reserve duty? In the playoffs? WTF?
Can only imagine, too, all the insults and shit-talking that was flung at Curry in Beantown during that aforementioned Game 4 when he hung 43 on the Celts. Golden State never looked back, rattling off three straight victories to win the Finals in six.
So like...I know the Sacramento Kings have snapped a 17-year playoff drought. I get that they're amped up. This kid who somehow got a fucking killer seat was just having a good old time. But for all the excuse I made for him in the headline, he is at least a teenager, right? He wasn't born yesterday? So he at least had a soft awareness of the recent history of Curry's playoff brilliance from last year, or even the four championships he's won?
Where was Captain America (or a parent/guardian) in this situation to calm the lad down?
Yes, the Kings won 126-123 and Curry missed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer that would've sent Game 1 to overtime.
I'm sorry Sactown, but this reeks of the "won the battle, lost the war" cliché.
I just hope the kid is there for Game 2 and keeps that same energy. Growing up as a lover of the CWebb Kings teams, I don't even know who I'm rooting for in this series. My lean is to the Warriors, because I enjoy witnessing greatness. Slam me for being a frontrunner even though I don't actively root for them. On the other hand, maybe we are witnessing the long-awaited ascent of a Sacramento franchise that hasn't been able to get out of its own way since 2006.
Enjoy lighting that fucking beam while you can, Kings faithful. I have a bad feeling some karmic comeuppance is coming due. You don't poke the bear/Baby Faced Assassin and often live to tell the tale. Also getting the sense that Malik Monk won't attempt and make 14 free throws in 29 minutes of court time for the remainder of the series like he did in Game 1. Just a hunch.
One more look at the viral punk kid…
In case you forgot what a ticked-off Steph did in that legendary Finals performance the last time he trailed in a playoff series, here it is. Shield your eyes, Celtics folks.
