This Is Definitively The Greatest Trophy Ceremony In Sports
I started my Sunday watching the Spanish Supernova that is Carlos Alcaraz dismantle Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the Barcelona Open. He was spectacular as always, but something I didn't see coming? The Barcelona Open trophy ceremony being even more electric. Bringing out the violinists and this incredible singer to belt out Nessun Dorma was stunning. I'm sitting here amazed at what I just watched. What a scene.
Now I'm gonna talk about Carlos Alcaraz. It is NONSENSE that he's only 19 years old and this good. The kid is a wonder to watch play tennis. If you've never given the sport a chance try to catch one of his matches and tell me you're not amazed. Today he defended his title in Barcelona and finished the tournament without dropping a set.
Carlos has revolutionized the drop shot. I compare it to the Steph Curry 3, it's that unfair. He'll push you off the court with his powerful forehands only to disguise this shot to the point you have zero chance to get to the ball. He terrorized Tsitsipas with this all match.
There's never a point he's out of. His combination of power, speed, finesse, and genius is unmatched.
There are very few on the planet who can consistently challenge him, one being of course Novak Djokovic. Unfortunately because of injuries and government bans they've only gone head to head once, which came at last year's Madrid Open semifinal where Carlos got the best of him in a great match. Finally this coming week they'll have a chance at a rematch in Madrid of all places. Please give us an Alcaraz-Djokovic final next Sunday morning and bring the opera man there as well.
Update: Nevermind…what the fuck Novak!
