Sports Science Doctor Breaks Down How Lethal Gervonta Davis' Liver Punch KO Of Ryan Garcia Actually Was

Giphy Images.

I don't know shit about boxing. I'm sure that statement shocks everyone reading this. On that note, I had been looking forward to this fight for weeks and weeks, as I love watching Garcia fight. And by "love watching Garcia fight" I mean I like watching his workout videos when I stumble on them on Instagram.

And that's because Kenny Powers voice the dude's hands are faster than fuck

So when you put him in the ring against one of the best PFP boxers on the earth, I'll gladly drop the $85 or w/e it was to watch it. If I'm dropping that kinda coin though, I want blood and carnage for 8 or 9 rounds before one of the boxers gets decapitated.

That's not what we got though. We got a body shot KO and everyone had their wits as the referee finished counting to 10.

To a novice boxing fan like me it was…underwhelming. I need spit, snot and blood flying out of people's mouths to truly love a knockout. This one just didn't do it for me personally. It was kinda anticlimactic. The fight itself wasn't bad at all. I actually enjoyed it. It was just the end I had qualms with.

That was until I watched this video this morning:

The way this doctor explains the punch made me appreciate it. Not gonna say it still wasn't underwhelming to me, but this video at least made me appreciate the art of that particular punch at least a little bit.

I do hope there's a rematch down the line. Let Garcia rack up a few more wins against better fighters then give us a Round II. Until then I'll go back to watching UFC. Shout out to Davis though. Absolute menace in the ring. He was the better fight by far. Dude's an animal
