Drew Maggi Officially Made His MLB Debut After 13 Years In The Minors....Gets A Pitch Clock Violation After 1 Pitch

What a night for the Pirates and Drew Maggi. Smoking the Dodgers on their way to their 17th win of the season, some people didn't think they'd win 17 games all year, but I digress. Nate wrote about the lifelong minor leaguer, Drew Maggi, getting called up this weekend, well he officially made his MLB debut tonight. Listen to that ovation from the Pirates fans, pretty sure they showed his parents at one point which is always a great shot. Mom is crying, dad trying not to cry, really cool moment. Fans going nuts, Andrew McCutchen is leading the cheers from the bench trying to get everyone hyped and excited. Maggi steps into the box and fouls one off. 0-1, steps out of the box and...........

A PITCH CLOCK VIOLATION?!?! Like I wrote about Cody Bellinger a few weeks ago, umpires have to have a pulse. Read the room bozos. This guy busted his ass for 13 years in the minors, he's older than Freddie Freeman for god's sake, if he steps out after his first big league pitch to catch his break you let him. Eventually he would strike out after 4 pitches but he's finally done it. He's a big leaguer. Not before some chump ump had to make sure he made it into the storyline with a pitch clock violation. I was thinking...if I'm Maggi and I get a pitch clock violation I absolutely lose my mind on the ump and get the boot. He'd be a baseball legend if he saw 1 pitch in his career and got tossed right after. Imagine going down like that. Waiting that long and losing your shit after 1 pitch.

Or maybe that is why he was a career minor leaguer. Learn to get in the box and stay there! Always be ready to hack up there, now the 13 years makes sense. We did get an awesome postgame interview from him, guy finally made it.
