Disgraceful Soccer Fans From AS Roma, Italy Attack Referee Anthony Taylor At Airport While He Was With His Family Because They Lost Europa League Final

ESPN - AS Roma fans have been condemned by the body responsible for match officials in England after videos showed them harassing Europa League final referee Anthony Taylor at Budapest Airport following their defeat to Sevilla on Wednesday.

Videos posted on social media Thursday showed outraged Roma supporters directing insults and throwing a chair in Taylor's direction as he and his family were escorted away by airport security.

Roma were beaten by Sevilla in a penalty shootout in Budapest, after which Taylor was heavily criticised and angrily confronted by the Italian club's manager Jose Mourinho.

The final was an ill-tempered affair on both sides, with Taylor brandishing a total of 14 yellow cards -- a record for a Europa League match.

"The referee seemed like he was Spanish," Mourinho said. "The result was not fair, and there are a lot of instances to reexamine."

Roma general manager Tiago Pinto continued the attack on Taylor in a statement to Italian news agency ANSA on Thursday.

"We at AS Roma don't want to raise doubts about Sevilla's merits. We believe that with our opponents we put on a great final and honored the stage offered to us by UEFA in the best way," Pinto said.

What the hell happened to losing with grace? Saving face and having some dignity? Does nobody care about shit like that anymore?

Apparently not.

I'm going to do something that will probably come as a shock to most of you, but it shouldn't, because I call balls and strikes as fair as anybody.

If this scene unfolded in Philadelphia airport (not that unrealistic to imagine), I would be destroying those fans, so I have to call a spade a spade here and do the same. Italians or not.

These people are fucking scum.

If you care about sports this much that you'll go to these kinds of lengths when upset, you need to seriously get your priorities in life straight. You probably need to get a life altogether too.

Absolute fucking losers.

Making a young girl cry and her parents genuinely fear for their safety? Because of a sports game? Are you kidding me? So sad and pathetic on so many levels. These people should all be ashamed of themselves but as usual, this shit starts at the top with the people expected to lead by example being pieces of shit.

In this case its AS Roma's head coach setting the pathetic example.

Roma head coach José Mourinho waited for Taylor outside the bus after the game like a tough guy.

Right after this sore loser gave away his runners-up medal to a fan.

Here's a few other angles of the family being harassed because of course more than one piece of shit videotaped themselves harassing this guy and his family.

Now here's the no-call hand ball that everybody really lost their minds about.

This is one of the craziest things about soccer though. They have a field bigger than a football field, with the fastest most well conditioned athletes on the planet running up and down it for an hour and a half each game, and they have ONE single referee expected to officiate and oversee all the action. One angle, from one guy. Yah I know they have VAR now but it's still all one that one guys shoulders. It's fucking bonkers.

The saddest part of this all for Roma fans is Roma just got straight-up smoked in this game.

And had a call that could have killed them overturned in their favor that they just chose to totally forget about.

Now I will say, is 14 yellow cards in one game (a championship game at that) a little excessive? Yah. Extremely.

And apparently, this guy has a long track record of sucking- Chelsea fans especially hate this guy.

But still. I think Ron Torbert is the worst fucking referee in the NFL by miles and miles and I would still never accost the guy in public. I don't think I'd even jokingly bust his balls about how terrible he is at his job because I wouldn't want to give him the satisfaction. And I have a life.

These people are fucking losers and the guy who threw the chair, and the ones who made Taylor's daughter cry should be jailed and never allowed in a stadium again.

As a wise man once said, "some things are bigger than sports." That applies in more ways than one.

I haven't been this sad or embarrassed to be Italian since Pageviews set our culture back decades during his week in Italy, and Andrew Cuomo pulled this shit.
