Nikola Jokic Celebrated His First NBA Championship In The Most Nikola Jokic Way Possible

I cannot think of a video that sums up Nikola Jokic more perfectly than that one right there. When it came to making All Star teams, Nikola Jokic never cared. When it came to making All NBA, Nikola Jokic never cared. When it came to winning the league MVP, Nikola Jokic never cared. All he has ever cared about is winning an NBA championship. It's been the only thing he's said that's mattered since he entered the league.

Now, on the night when he actually wins an NBA championship, he celebrates in the most Nikola Jokic way possible. Is he even having fun? Of course not. You know internally he's raging that he even has to be in that locker room right now. That might have been the saddest, least enthusiastic champagne celebration I've ever seen someone have while celebrating a championship, yet for Jokic it's perfect. Watching it over and over, it's almost like he doesn't even know how to celebrate because he never does stuff like that, and I find it to be very funny. Everyone else I'm sure is losing their mind and Jokic is just kinda like

I can't think of a celebration more on brand than that. I think that's my favorite part. It's as authentically Jokic as it gets. I always wondered what would happen if he ever got to the top of the mountain, and now that it's happened the reaction is even better than I imagined.

Compare that to what I'm sure Bruce Brown is getting into tonight

something tells me they are about to have very different evenings.

Like everything with Jokic, the reason this works is because it's authentic. It's why he's a 1 of 1 type player/human. I'm not sure if he just won the title or a random Tuesday game in January against the Wizards. That was the reaction of every single work party you've ever been forced to go to. You show up, fake excitement for two seconds just to say you were there, and then you dip. An A+ move that everyone who has been in the cube life has had to do at one time or another.

Nikola Jokic, he's just like us!

no, no he's not
