Oh, What The Fuck: Gregg Berhalter Is Now Reportedly Set To Be The USMNT Manager Again, Deal Is 'Being Finalized'

[Source] - Gregg Berhalter is set to return as coach of the U.S. men’s national team.

The coach who led the U.S. through the last cycle and to the Round of 16 in November’s FIFA World Cup is in negotiations to return as manager, multiple sources involved in or briefed on negotiations told The Athletic. Those sources were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the talks. The deal is still being finalized, but Berhalter’s return is imminent.

Excuse me here, but what the fucking fuck is this? We're bringing back Gregg? After everything that happened, after the house was cleaned, after the Gio drama, we're bringing this guy back? You gotta be fucking kidding me. What was the point of Matt Crocker doing interviews with all these people? Surely someone was better than Gregg here:

You're telling me you couldn't convince Jesse Marsch, Patrick Vieira or anyone else out there to take the job? You're telling me one of these guys aren't better than Gregg? Listen, I thought Gregg was fine. Fine is okay when you're rebuilding and getting young guys involved. He did mostly what he was supposed to in terms of building the roster depth, getting some legit talent and advancing out of group stage. But you don't fucking run it back because of that.

I'm furious. It's 10:24pm as I blog this. I'm watching a real USMNT match against Mexico (and live golf). It's supposed to be a good night. Instead I get hit with this news as I see Gio starting against Mexico. I'm furious. This is so pointless. There's no shot he makes it to 2026. There's no reason for him to be there. You don't run back a guy who had problems when the goal isn't just making it out of group stage in 2026.

This just doesn't make any sense. This is what the USMNT was supposed to avoid being. You're supposed to go out and find a guy to help take this group to the next level. Seriously, what the fuck man?
