The First Trailer For 'Kraven The Hunter' Is Here And It's Pretty God Damn Bland
Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff is on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world.
Before getting into it, it's kind of funny that Sony had to drop this trailer early because someone leaked the ENTIRE thing in HD this morning.
Anyway, this trailer didn't do a ton for me. Pretty generic looking action, average looking story. I don't know a ton about the character outside of the basics but it feels like this is a dude that would be better as a standard villain instead of getting an origin story. It is what it is, though. Like most rational people, I'm a fan of Russell Crowe and also really liked Alessandro Nivola, who is playing The Rhino, in 'The Art of Self Defense'. Also, it's hard not to love Aaron Taylor-Johnson. This is the third superhero he's playing and I'd love if he got to express his wild side more. Whenever I mention him I make sure to point out how excellent he was in 'Outlaw King'.
On the backend, this is directed by J.C. Chandor who made some good movies in 'A Most Violent Year', 'All is Lost' and 'Margin Call'. He also made 'Triple Frontier' which I thought had the potential to be awesome but kinda fizzled. The script is by the duo of Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who wrote 'Iron Man', as well as Richard Wenk, who wrote 'The Equalizer'.
