WATCH: Hulu's 'Futurama' Revival Looks Like Ass

I have to be honest with myself through my delirious fandom of the show: This looks bad.

For over 10 years, Futurama has been my go-to show to fall asleep to. It's snappy, very re-watchable and sneakily very smart (There were a bunch of math/science PhDs on the writing staff that threw in a lot of easter eggs). It's my niche category on the Dozen and I've probably watched it 50 times front-to-back. However, there was a very clear drop-off in quality when the show was cancelled by Fox in '03 and picked up by Comedy Central in '09. Even with the weaker later eps, they had about as strong of a finale as any show could hope for. Perfection.

So when I heard they were dredging up the corpse to get some more juice out of it, I wasn't thrilled. That said, I kinda trusted Hulu because their comedy series have a pretty damn high hit rate. But this trailer, man, it ain't good. The fact that they're doing COVID and Crypto jokes is outdated and lame enough, but the fact that they're important enough to be the highlight of the trailer is very concerning.

I'll be watching regardless but my expectations have been lowered a LOT.
