Jose Ramirez Once Again Proved He Is One Of The Most Exciting/Insane Players In Baseball By Stealing Home In Extra Innings Yesterday

I mean what?! This is the action of a mad man. Someone who sees things at a different speed than you and has absolutely no regard for how things are usually done.

Jose is known for taking risks on the base paths but this is a completely different level. The Guardians were playing their first game since taking over sole possession of first place in the dumpster fire highly competitive AL Central. There is two outs and Andres Gimenez - a guy who just signed a seven-year $106 Million contract extension this offseason - is at the plate.

Most normal human beings would let one of their best hitters move him the last 90 feet to take the lead. But is Jose normal?

He didn't just steal home. He didn't just steal home in extra innings. HE STOLE HOME IN EXTRA INNINGS TO TAKE THE LEAD.

Jose is just wired different. Whether it's the way he struts around the field like he is 6'5" when he's only 5'9". Or the fact he is the first player in the history of baseball to take a massive discount to stay in Cleveland. Or the fact he just decides to take bases from grown ass men who are being paid a king's ransom to play a game.

And it's not just the fact he tried it but how he accomplished the feat. Look at him contort his body around the glove of Salvador Perez.

It's poetry in motion and also the reason we call him Goatse around these parts. (Do not google "goatse" if you are work. It means something completely different in other parts of the internet. Just trust me.)

From what I can tell it is only the 4th time someone has stolen home this season and is definitely the first time in extra innings. So how rare of a feat is it to snatch home in extras?

MLB.com - For the first time in his big league career, Ramírez stole home in the 10th inning of Cleveland’s 4-3 loss to Kansas City. The Guardians haven’t seen a player steal home in extra innings since at least 1974, the year steals of home began being tracked according to the Radar360 database.

This was the first time a Guardians player pulled off the feat in any inning since Leonys Martin did so on June 15, 2019, against the Tigers. Ramírez was just the eighth player in AL/NL history to steal home in extra innings.

Now the Guardians went on to get walked off because Emmanuel Clase is a complete mess this season but that's besides the point. The Guardians are still tied for 1st place and Jose did something people will remember way longer than a random game in late June.

Love that guy.
