The Blue Jays Are Due For A Bounce Back, Jose Altuve Is Red Hot, And The Yankees Are Poised To Jump All Over Jack Flaherty

Yesterday was not the disaster it could've been, but it wasn't the best day ever, either. The Cincinnati Reds saved me with a miracle comeback in extra innings, earning me a win on the money line. The Phillies have been red hot but decided to take yesterday off for some reason against the Nationals, and much like the rest of their offense, George Springer was shut down by James Paxton and the Red Sox. The Blue Jays remain the most "boom or bust" team in baseball. It wasn't a great day, but there's no need to panic or find a new system. I can't lament, so let's look at today's picks.

Blue Jays RL (+130) against the Red Sox

As I said before, the Blue Jays are boom or bust, but a few things stand out about this one. Toronto has only scored eight runs in their last four games. This offense is too talented to be held down for this long. From a pitching standpoint, this lines up well for Toronto. We're officially into July, but Yusei Kikuchi had a tremendous June, posting a 2.28 ERA in 5 starts. Kutter Crawford will be going for the Red Sox. The sample size is small, but he's 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA in his career against Toronto. 

Jose Altuve over 1.5 bases (+112)

Astros/Rangers is by far the most intriguing series of the weekend for me. The Astros are starting to heat up, while the Rangers have seemingly been hot all season. The Astros often go as Jose Altuve does, and lately, he's been going strong, posting a .467 batting average and a 1.533 OPS over the last four games. He also has tremendous numbers in his career against Nathan Eovaldi (8-24 for a 1.152 OPS). I like this bet quite a bit.

Yankees to score first and win game one against the Cardinals (+155)

The Yankees and Cardinals have a twin billing today. St. Louis is having one of the worst seasons in franchise history, and while this Yankees team is still without Aaron Judge, their offense has started to heat up a little over the last two games (playing Oakland will do that to you.) Jack Flaherty is on the mound for the Cardinals. He's been a disaster in the first inning this year, allowing ten earned runs in 15 innings. Flaherty doesn't have much experience against the Yankees with one exception, and that's Anthony Rizzo, who has dominated Flaherty in his career (he's 9-19 with a 1.600 OPS). Expect New York to jump on him early.
