Juan Soto Inexplicably Says Shohei Ohtani Will Have Trouble Pitching Against The Padres Lineup Today
20 K, No-Hitter incoming with a moon shot home run at the dish for good measure.
Why in the world would you say that? When asked about Shohei Ohtani, how do you not leave it at, he's an incredible player having an incredible season, and I look forward to facing him tomorrow. No harm, no foul, no story. Nope! Instead, Juan Soto had to drop a "he's going to have trouble facing this lineup tomorrow, definitely" and a "I won't be scared to shuffle his ass".
That was perhaps the most unnecessary addition to an answer I've ever heard in my life, especially when the very next day you're going up the best player in baseball. I can't even sit here and say I like the confidence because I flat out don't. The Padres are loaded with superstar talent across their entire lineup, and they're sitting in 4th in their division. And let's not confuse that with their division being a dogfight with some of the best teams in baseball. It is; they're just not one of them. The Padres are 39-47 and 11 games back in the AL West, 7 games back in the Wild Card. So Ohtani is going to struggle with THAT lineup? The lineup that got swept by the Pirates last week?
Don't let the New York Metropolitans sitting a 20 spot behind the Braves distract you from the fact that the Padres have been a colossal embarrassment this season as well. Juan Soto should not be talking shit to ANYONE right now, let alone the best player in baseball. I do not like this at all. However....
