Villainous Wimbledon Protestor Armed With Confetti And a Gift Shop Puzzle Storms The Court And Disrupts Play
Let's call a spade a spade here, this is a poor protest. Poor in a few ways actually. For starters all this person did was throw confetti and a puzzle on the court, so the cleanup process is rather quick. That's all they had in them? It's also poor in the notion that this happened on Court 18 between Dimitrov and Shimabukuro. I'm not even going to pretend to know who Shimabukuro is and I watch this sport at nauseam. All you need to get onto Court 18 is a cheap grounds pass as opposed to buying a premier ticket for Centre Court.
I suppose they did have to fork over the cash for the puzzle at the store which limited their ticket funds. No way they thought to use Gametime to get the best ticket prices at the last minute. Fools.
Protests like this are unbelievably stupid. I get that people have their shit they're trying to spread awareness on, in this case gas and oil companies polluting the Earth, but what in the world is throwing a puzzle you buy at the Wimbledon gift shop and some confetti onto the court going to do? The players have no doing with the pollution and the fans are there to just watch tennis. You're only going to piss those people off rather than gain their support.
One little wrinkle to this protest is that it's been raining at Wimbledon for days on end. They still have barely completed any first round matches and we're already onto day 3. The rain has been so fucking annoying. Finally we get a glimmer of sunlight to play and here come the puzzle people. Off with their heads.
I suppose the goal with all this is acquiring headlines like the one I wrote for this blog. Am I hero for publishing this? Dammit.
Whatever, as dumb as the puzzle people were today they still don't top the guy who lit himself on fire during last year's Laver Cup
A dead-fish that Portnoy would be proud of
P.S. The Wimbledon heads refusing to use the roof to play as many matches as possible over the last few days is so dumb you almost have to respect it. Why did you pay to cover two courts if you're just going to ignore them? Morons.
