Britney Spears Was Allegedly Slapped in the Face By Victor Wembanyama's Security Guard

NY Post - A member of Victor Wembanyama’s security detail is accused of backhand slapping Britney Spears – yes, the Britney Spears – after the pop star asked the NBA rookie for a picture in Las Vegas, according to TMZ.

Spears, 41, allegedly tried to get a photo with Wembanyama, 19, at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel in Vegas, approaching the European basketball star and tapping him on his shoulder.

According to TMZ, at the instant Spears tapped the 7-foot-4 rookie, the director of team security for Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs backhanded her in the face, knocking her to the ground and her glasses off her face.

Spears reportedly “composed herself” and walked back to her table, at which point the security guard came over and apologized, saying, “You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans.”

Spears apparently accepted the apology and spent time with the security guard – but after dinner, went to the police and filed an incident report.

Well that's a wild Mad Lib of a sentence that I wasn't expecting to see this morning. If you'd ask me to guess what 2 celebrities were involved in a physical altercation last night, I would have made roughly 12 million guesses before I landed on Britney Spears and Victor Wembanyama.

This is tough to write about really. You can't be making jokes when it comes to a woman being backhanded across the face. That's not something we do here at Barstool Sports. But what a ridiculous situation. You know Victor Wembanyama's security team has a hell of a job to do. Not that Wembanyama is the most famous person out there. But when you're all of 7'4", 110 lbs, you know he draws the attention of everybody. The man can't go anywhere without being the center of attention. Even people who have no idea who he is will stop dead in their tracks at the sheer sight of him.

"But why doesn't he just turn sideways and disappear?"

I thought the same thing, but unfortunately that doesn't work, seeing as Victor Wembanyama is not in an episode of Looney Tunes. There's literally nothing he can do discretely.

That being said, if you're his security guard, or if you're anybody's security guard for that matter, you can't just be blindly backhanding small women across the face every time your subject is approached. Especially if that woman is one of the most popular pop stars in the history of the world, who just so happens to be in the midst of a very public, very concerning, crisis live on Instagram.

You can't be all loosey goosey with your backhanded slaps. You have to be able to pick your moments. Sometimes a backhanded slap across the face is warranted. Like if the person is being ultra-aggressive, is approaching with a weapon (tire iron, large sword, etc.), or is James Corden. In that case, slap away. But in any other situation, I'd recommend going with more of a shove. A stiff arm if you will.

You see how easy that was? If CBS News Miami reporter Samantha Rivera can fend of a drunken Las Vegas man, then I'm sure Wembenyama's security team can fend of little ol' Britney Spears without trying to break her jaw. Leave Britney alone.
