A Savannah Bananas Game Ended On A Fan Catching A Foul Ball To Record The Final Out

The Savannah Bananas' take on baseball has been sweeping the country. These guys sell out ballparks across the country playing "Banana Ball", an iteration of baseball which seems like it may have been concocted during an LSD-fueled fever dream. But it puts asses in seats because it's fun as hell and gives fans an opportunity to see things they won't see at any other baseball game in America — things like ending the game on a foul ball caught by a fan that counts as a recorded out.

I think Major League Baseball has started to do a much better job in the last few years of making baseball fun and consumable for a larger audience, but the Savannah Bananas are legitimately creating better crowds than almost any big league team on a given night because they've tapped into what people really want to experience when they go to a ballpark. Go look at what the cheapest ticket is for your local MLB team's next game and then look at what it will cost you to get into a Bananas game.

Now I'm not advocating for MLB to make foul balls outs if a fan catches them, but I think it's great we have somebody doing that and showcasing an arcade version of baseball to potentially acquire new consumers of the sport. The Savannah Bananas should be studied in business schools across the country.

But yeah, this clip rocks. Shoutout to that fan for making a great grab.
