NERD ALERT: Elly De La Cruz's Swing Is Statistically Leaving A Lot On The Table And That Is SCARY

By now everyone who follows baseball is aware of the new whippersnapper Reds machine and their superstar Elly De La Cruz. And unless you're an old, literally broken down man like Chris Klemmer who yells at every cloud that weighs more than him (Spoiler Alert: All the clouds), it's awesome to see. Just last year this team was a beyond embarrassing 62-100 and could barely sniff a win in the first two months of the season. Some would say it was the lowest part in the history of the franchise, that is until they're reminded former Owner Marge Schott went out of her old bag way to praise Hitler. Twice.

Hateful Elderly Lady Nazi Sympathizing aside, Cincy being good at baseball is good for baseball. And it all centers around De La Cruz. The man is a monster. A pure freak of nature on the diamond. He's 6'5, can hit for power, has a huge man howitzer cannon for an arm, and may be the fastest non-gazelle on the planet. Seriously. The dude can freaking fly.

But that's not all. According to the nerds, Elly De La Cruz's swing has an issue. He apparently swings down too much. WAYYYY too much:

I'm not going to pretend what xwOBAcon is or how these baseball/NASA nerds calculate these stats. But I will trust said nerds. And this stat is SCARY. Why? Because this is apparently Elly De La Cruz with a limp dick attack angle for a swing:

Correct. That ball HAD a family. Not any more. 458 ft for his first career home run. Obviously De La Cruz wasn't exactly "Swinging Down" here, but good God. The potential for this kid is limitless. And it's going to be exciting to watch.

As long as it's not against the Phillies. Please. Stay in your shitty NL Central lane and hit all the cycles ye please.
