Tom Aspinall Scores A TKO Victory 1-Minute Into London's Main Event
TOM ASPINALL IS BACK AND MADE THAT FIGHT LOOK JUST AS EASY AS WE THOUGHT HE WOULD!
I love Tom Aspinall - and not just because he complimented my Beatles tattoos the last time I was in London. He's a dangerous, well-rounded, and charismatic heavyweight prospect (in a time where we don't have a ton of those), and he has almost always overdelivered on expectations in his UFC career. Tonight was no exception.
Heavyweight is actually a pretty fun division right now, too, but I think shit is gonna hit the fan come November.
Jon Jones is fighting Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight Championship at MSG, and I truly believe that regardless of what happens there - both men are gonna leave their gloves in the cage and retire. If that's the case, what happens to the title?
Aspinall says that he's going to Paris to watch Ciryl Gane vs Sergey Spivak and wants the winner of that one, and then a title shot against Jones….but if Jones is retired?
I think the winner of Aspinall vs the winner of Gane vs Spivak would get Sergei Pavlovich for a vacant title - which would definitely be a banger.
Regardless of what happens in the future, though, Aspinall looked spectacular tonight. Gotta just give him props for that. We expected him to dominate, and would've been disappointed in anything less than that - and then he went in there and finished Tybura in a minute, and he didn't even get hit in the process! Flawless stuff.
Woulda been the perfect day had Meatball Molly won.
Oh well.
