NOPE: Cedar Point Roller Coaster Stops At Its Highest Point, Riders Have To Walk Down Over 200 Feet On Some Flimsy Ass Looking Steps
[Mirror] - Theme park riders were forced to walk down 200ft down a rollercoaster after a mechanical issue left them stuck at its highest point.
People were riding the Magnum XL-200 rollercoaster when it came to an unexpected halt midair on Monday. The mechanical malfunction triggered a nerve-wracking evacuation as riders were forced to navigate their way down themselves on the teetering staircase with nothing but a thin metal handrail to cling to.
The Magnum XL-200, known for its record-breaking height, tops out at a dizzying 205ft and has held the prestigious title in the "Guinness Book of World Records" for its leading-edge height, according to the amusement park's website.
Park officials referred to it as a "standard ride stoppage." Eyewitnesses recounted the tense situation as they watched riders being guided down the massive structure by park staff.
Among them was Josh Lett, who told Fox News Digital, "I haven't seen anything similar to this happen before."
Yeah absolutely the fuck not. You can't call it a standard ride stoppage when it's 200 feet up and you're making me walk down these steps. Do you trust yourself not to slip in the slightest when you're getting off a stuck roller coaster? You may talk a big game, but in that moment, do you walk normal without missing one step or a tiny slip? It's more likely than you'd think.
You better give me more than that thin ass handrail too. I'm not afraid to admit I'm a pussy, especially when it comes to heights. I don't like them. I don't mind roller coasters by any means, but if I'm just standing up high or sitting up high? Nope. Get those weird stomach feelings (not the shit/farting kind) just thinking about it. I have no desire to see a 'view' from up high. If I really want to see something, I'll just Google it.
I just can't stop laughing at the park officials trying to play it off as a standard ride stoppage. Everyone knows we stop the roller coasters at the highest peak and then make you walk down the steps. Just a standard Monday for everyone around. I will say this is one of the worst parts of the Internet. For those of us that grew up pre-Internet, you just went on a roller coaster. Sure, you thought about 'what if it stopped' but now? Now you can find this story all the time and just scare the shit out of you. That old wooden roller coaster down on Wildwood's boardwalk or the one with the loop? Sure, I'll go on there in 1999, what did it matter? Good luck getting me on there now.
PS: The Magnum XL-200 name? Come on. That's a condom, you don't think roller coaster. That's gotta be made up.
