Philly Legend Cements His Place In History By Dummying The 9 Hot Dogs, 9 Beers, 9 Innings Challenge
There's nothing I love more than witnessing the unwavering drive, dedication, and tenacity of the human spirit. There's something special about being able to watch humans unlock their ultimate potential and achievement. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. It's truly a gift what we are able to do and accomplish when we dedicate our mind and body solely to the task. And this hero right here dummying the 9-9-9 challenge at the Phillies game embodies everything it takes to be great.
ESPECIALLY doing it in today's day and age with the introduction of the pitch clock to the MLB. I mean there was a time in history where you could spend 5 hours at a baseball game. 9 hot dogs and 9 beers during that stretch is nothing. That's just a standard Saturday afternoon for some folks. That's a walk in the park. But with the pitch clock in today's game? It's damn near impossible. That is a full blown sprint through 9 innings because those 9 innings may only last 2 hours.
Now I don't know any of the backstory here, and I'd certainly love to get in contact with this fella to get some details. But unless you're doing this with a team, I think it actually is impossible. Not to eat the 9 hot dogs and drink the 9 beers in that amount of time, but to be able to actually acquire the 9 pork missiles and 9 crispy cold boys. Most of the concession stands only allow you to purchase 2 beers at once. With the pitch clock, you could end up standing in some of those lines for 3.5 innings. You ever try to get a bucket of crab fries from Chickie's at CBP this season? You're missing half the game. Logistically the only way to make this happen is if you basically have your own pit crew. A rotating cast of friends who are going out and procuring the meat rockets and adult sodas for you. That way you can just focus on the task at hand.
I just want to know if I should be congratulating this legend on his own, or if I need to extend the praise to the whole squad. Either way, what an accomplishment. Dudes rock.
