In Complete Contradiction To Gal Gadot’s Comments, DC Apparently Has No Plans To Make Wonder Woman 3
(Collider) Multiple sources with knowledge close to the situation have told Collider that Wonder Woman 3 is not in development at DC Studios. This contradicts Gal Gadot’s recent interviews where she said she was working on the project in partnership with DC Studio Heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. In addition, Gunn and Safran do not have plans for a Wonder Woman project aside from Paradise Lost, which is a prequel series at Max.
(Variety) The sources added to Variety that nothing was ever promised to Gadot regarding “Wonder Woman 3,” nor was there any definitive discussion of Gadot’s Wonder Woman continuing with the new DC Universe. Gunn and Safran gave a presentation at the start of the year unveiling the first titles in their new DC Universe, including “Superman: Legacy,” and they continue to be laser focused on these new films.
ICYMI, Gal had recently confirmed that James Gunn was willing to bring her Wonder Woman into his new DC universe. To me, that was a HUGE mistake. I'll quote myself from that blog.
Gal Gadot is an undeniably charismatic and attractive actor. She is also, simply put, a bad actress. She is basically the female equivalent of The Rock in the bubble of the acting world. This sort of skill set was once in demand for Hollywood (think Arnie in the 80's) but we just aren't there anymore. Will these celeb's movies make bank? Sure. Will they the face of successful/quality franchises? No. They're entertainers.
So the TLDR: She is charismatic and all that but just a STINKY actor that does not have the second level of skill that Gunn requires to make his movies shine. So for her to have made it through to the new DC universe over people like Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams etc would have been a complete and total shame. The whole universe needs new blood, WW included.
Besides that, god damn is this embarrassing for her. Going out there and doing profiles promising that WW3 is going to make it into the new world only to have either:
A. Lied or
B. Completely misread the room and came away with this quote
“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” Gadot said, “and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
That is so specific that it almost feels like her lying is more likely. Either way, this is a big win. She's OUT of the DCU and is free to go make 20 more $500,000,000 budget netflix movies that suck ass.
