Meet Padres Prospect Ethan Salas, The #5 Ranked Prospect In Baseball......Who Just Happens To Be 17 Years-Old!

17. Think of what you were doing at 17. Whatever it is, it isn't as cool as being ranked as the #5 ranked prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline. Ethan Salas is barely learning how to drive a car, but he's already making a name for himself in baseball. Kid is going to be an absolute stud. 

It's not rare to see 17 year olds in A-ball trying to move up....but they never are ranked in the top 10, let alone top 5. Salas is a freak. He was the #1 international prospect and signed with San Diego for $5.6 Million and immediately started showing how awesome he is. He isn't your typical 17 year-old. He's a 5-tool catcher with a sweet lefty swing, what is not to love? He also just got called up from low-A to High-A this week and notched his first career hit. Kid isn't waiting around, he wants to get up to AA where there are only 2 other teenagers. MLB Pipeline has his MLB ETA as 2026, but who knows. Kid is 17 and already in the top 5, factor that in with the Padres not being afraid to make a big move. He could be up here soon, next year or 2025. And he'll still be a teenager, just insane. 

He just looks so polished already, more mature, he looks like he belongs in a higher level and this is at the ripe age of 17. The guy has made an incredible jump UP the top 100 list after not even being on the list when the season started. Pipeline themselves said they've never had someone so high on this list and be so young. Bright, bright future ahead of Salas. He's going to be a fun guy to monitor for the next few seasons. 17 years-old and he's making a historic rise up the charts, just incredible.
