Ryan Day Jr, A High School Freshman, Threw A Game-Winning Touchdown With 25 Seconds Left In His First Varsity Start

Looks like the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree! Ryan Day Sr. was the Gatorade Player of the Year in New Hampshire before going on to play QB for Chip Kelly at UNH, and now his son RJ has announced his presence with authority on the Ohio high school football scene with a game-winning touchdown to lead St. Francis DeSales to a 21-17 victory over Tri-Valley. No comment on the coverage scheme for the Scotties, but I did hear that there was a For Sale sign in the Defensive Coordinator's yard when he got back to Dresden late Friday night.

Anyways, RJ's big first weekend of high school didn't stop there. I have no knowledge of if Coach's son had any other high school firsts on Friday night (hoping my guy was treated right), but it does appear that he got at least one Happy Ending to the weekend.

So Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley was the Defensive Coordinator with Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in 2019, so I'm not saying anything against RJ, but this isn't the biggest surprise in the entire world. Definitely a great start for the kid though, who has been around the elite camps and practices dating back to his middle school days.

I wonder how Ryan Day Sr. is going to handle this going forward. Like, Ohio State HAS to be RJ's dream school. But obviously when you're the head coach of the best college football program in the country, you can't play Daddy Ball. I'm just interested to keep my tabs on the kid's career and offers he picks up. In a perfect world, he's good enough to play for Ohio State and Coach can coach his son. But if he ain't a 5-star I don't want him, no offense RJ.

Good weekend though, buddy. Have fun in Geometry this morning!
