14,000+ Aces Later, John Isner's Tennis Career Fittingly Ends With a Thrilling 10 Point Match Tiebreak At The US Open

We just had a crazy match during the day here at the US Open with John Isner losing to fellow American Michael Mmoh, ending the big man's long career. His time in tennis could not have ended any more fitting with him playing the 829th tiebreak of his career there to end the 5th.

While I was never a big fan of his with how much of a serve bot he was and his style of play, you gotta appreciate the 17 years he gave the tour. For a while he was the only American man you could even think of who was playing in a slam. I mean they had to change the rules of final sets in slams after his marathon match at Wimbledon that lasted THREE days. He's the reason you see a 10 point match tiebreak after 6 all in the 5th. The fact that he lost in that fashion is poetic.

From all accounts he was the nicest dude you could ever meet.

14,470 career aces, 829 tiebreaks, and over $20M earned on tour. Probably the most un-hittable serve the game will ever see. Helluva career for the 6'10" Georgia Bulldog. Enjoy retirement.
