One Game Into The Coach Prime Era, Colorado Is Ranked In The AP Poll
Colorado's meteoric rise under Deion Sanders continued Tuesday, as the Buffaloes were ranked in the AP Poll for the first time since December 2020. CU will play its first home game of the Coach Prime era this Saturday against Nebraska as the No. 22 team in the country.
If you asked any given college football pundit how long it would take the Buffs to be ranked after Sanders took over, I think the average answer would have been 2024 at the earliest and some would have probably said never. It took him one week.
And while I know the entire sport is fawning over Colorado right now, I really don't think this is some sort of crazy overreaction. The Buffs have two legitimate Heisman contenders. Their offense looks like it's going to be able to light up the scoreboard against just about anybody. I don't know if CU is a 10-win team or anything like that, but through the first week, it's absolutely one of the 25 best teams in America.
Other than Alabama-Texas, Colorado's home opener is the most must-watch game in the country this weekend. It's going to be an incredible scene. I can't wait to see how the rest of this season plays out for Coach Prime and the Buffs.
