Dua Lipa Is Unreal In The First Trailer For The Spy Comedy 'Argylle'

The world's greatest spy, 'Argylle,' gets caught up in a globe-trotting adventure.

This synopsis doesn't really match the trailer. Seems more like this:

An author gets swept into the world of cloaks and daggers when it turns out the espionage series she writes is actually a prophecy of real-life events to come.

To be frank, I have no idea what to make of this trailer. The angel on my shoulder says:

- I really like director/producer Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Kick-Ass, X-Men First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service). The guy knows how to tell a good, interwoven spy/crime story and rocks with stylized action.

- The cast list is super talented from top to bottom. A great mix of actors experienced in action and comedy.

- Dua Lipa, hello

- Maybe this is a fun, goofy premise that weirdly works.

The Devil on my shoulder says

- As much as Vaughn hit with those movies I mentioned, he also has some misses with the last two Kingsman movies.

- What the fuck is this stupid looking CGI cat

- This might be really lost in the sauce

Instead of my usual cynicism with this sort of movie, I've decided to go with an extremely cautious optimism because I really like everyone involved. Still super skeptical of the concept, though.

Speaking of Matthew Vaughn, we actually interviewed him a while back and he was a treat. Like I mentioned above, he has directed some fantastic movies. He is also has a possibly better track record as a producer.

He was behind movies like Rocketman (which actually deserved all the love Bohemian Rhapsody got), Tetris, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and most of those movies he directed. He also had the unfortunate duty of producing the Fantastic Four remake, which he was very candid with us about. It's rare that anyone in the biz gets into the nuts and bolts of dealing with studio interference with us which was really refreshing.

Anyway, optimism it is. And, one again, Hello Dua Lipa.
