Here Are All Of The Best Movies And Shows Coming To (HBO) Max This Month. 'Pootie Tang', 'Poltergeist'.
1. Pootie Tang
Pootie Tang, the musician/actor/folk hero of the ghetto, is chronicled from his early childhood to his battles against the evil Corporate America, who try to steal his magic belt and make him sell out by endorsing addictive products to his people. Pootie must learn to find himself and defeat the evil corporation for all the young black children of America, supatime.
This is a severely under-appreciated movie from Louis C.K. Great bits and really funny actors involved. Sa Da Tay!
2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
When Sally hears that her grandfather's grave may have been vandalized, she and her paraplegic brother, Franklin, set out with their friends to investigate. After a detour to their family's old farmhouse, they discover a group of crazed, murderous outcasts living next door. As the group is attacked one by one by the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface, who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape.
Help put some money on the table for Kate by streaming a horror classic.
3. Poltergeist
Steve Freeling lives with his wife, Diane, and their three children, Dana, Robbie, and Carol Anne, in Southern California where he sells houses for the company that built the neighborhood. It starts with just a few odd occurrences, such as broken dishes and furniture moving around by itself. However, when he realizes that something truly evil haunts his home, Steve calls in a team of parapsychologists led by Dr. Lesh to help before it's too late.
Another horror classic, this one holds up extremely well. I rewatched recently and god damn if it didn't get scared as shitless as I did the first time I watched.
4. The French Connection
Tough narcotics detective 'Popeye' Doyle is in hot pursuit of a suave French drug dealer who may be the key to a huge heroin-smuggling operation.
This is Gene Hackman at his best as he busts down crime in a movie that features one of my favorite car chases in movie history.
5. Appaloosa
Two friends hired to police a small town that is suffering under the rule of a rancher find their job complicated by the arrival of a young widow.
This is a western that doesn't get the respect it deserves in my opinion. When Ed Harris and Viggo get together, magic happens.
