Even Brian Daboll Knew It Wouldn't Have Mattered If They Gave Saquon The Ball On The Final Play, The Giants Just Make Loser Plays All The Time
I've seen a lot of takes about the Giants last play of the game. I'm not even talking about the potential penalty, I'm talking about the call. People losing their mind that the Giants dared to throw the ball instead of handing it off to Saquon. What the hell am I missing here? Do we forget the end of the first half?
It's not like 1) Saquon was having a good game. He had two big runs in the second half that made the stat line look way better. And 2) the Giants offensive line still sucks. You really think they would hold the block to get space for Saquon to get through? No. Passing was for sure the right option. The only complaint is the lack of options on the pass play. Get Tyrod out in space where he can run if he has to or throw a couple other options out there.
You want Saquon involved? Fine. Get him out in space. Dude can catch the ball. That's my complaint is the lack of options. Again, I know the line sucks, so move Taylor out of the pocket and let him make the decision to run it or not. But just handing it off? Ain't like that's a perfect plan with this team.
There's no doubt this team sucks. I mean we can't score a touchdown or execute a final play of a half. But come on, just can't blindly say give it to Saquon. The ball still hit Waller in the hands. It just sums up this season perfectly. The team has no idea how to make winning plays. Whether it was handing it off in the first half or not scoring at the end of the game. Loser play after loser play.
