Martin Scorsese Introduced A Showing Of "Killers Of The Flower Moon", Which Ended In Chaos And PANIC At The Theater
For those not paying attention, not only did we have a new Martin Scorsese + Leonardo DiCaprio joint drop, but we also had a fresh Barstool movie war take place. Last time it was Jeff D. Lowe vs. Chris Castellani and now Mr. D. Lowe is taking on Steven Cheah.
Personally I agree with Jeff that everyone should do their part in keeping movie theaters alive by seeing big releases on the silver screen while also agreeing with Steven Cheah that Killers Of The Flower Moon was too slow/long for my liking (which is the opposite of my love life) and I wish I watched it at home instead of in the movie theater. To be honest if I was home, I probably would've stopped watching before things got good when Jesse Plemons shows up, which I guess is a point for Mr. D. Lowe. However, I could've saved the $20 I spent on a ticket and donated it to a charity like the Make A Wish Foundation, which is a point for Mr. Cheah unless Jeff says he is vehemently anti-charity and doesn't think kids with terminal illnesses should get to visit Disney World. The ball is in your court, Jeff.
Actually I've probably already said too much, which will result in the difficulty of Team Ziti's questions on The Dozen getting ratcheted up from Rookie to All-Madden. I promise you Jeff that I will go see Napoleon, Wonka, and the Bob Marley in the theater (pronounced thee-ay-ter to sound extra fancy) whenever they come out AND listen to Chief discuss all three of those titans in their respective industries on a Tuesday Dog Walk.
Despite all this, there is one story I couldn't ignore as a member of the media, which was chaos and PANIC taking place at a movie theater after Martin Scorsese surprised an audience before a showing of Killers Of The Flower Moon.
Being the investigative journalist that I am, I tracked down the video of said chaos and PANIC.
I...guess that was it?
TMZ- We're told that AMC staffers weren't all that helpful in clarifying to people what was going on or what to do -- and folks started to shuffle out on their own ... heading into the lobby. Our sources tell us, however, that some people were actually freaking out a bit -- seeing how no information was apparently being communicated, a handful of folks thought there might've been an active shooter situation ... so yeah, it sounds like it was a chaotic sitch.
We're told people were awkwardly standing around ... not really sure what to do. Eventually, though, a massive line formed once it became clear their movies were ruined -- and guest relations started to give out refunds.
Maybe I'm just a child of the 90s that remembers when everything on TV was driven by sex and violence or a Barstool employee that sees at least five fights between people simply because they root for opposite sports teams. But that didn't seem like PANIC or even lowercase panic to me.
As for the chaos, there isn't a shred of it in that video either. People seemed to be in an organized line and weren't even rolling their eyes aggressively or sighing loudly while in line to passively aggressively show their frustration despite having your movie night ruined by some scoundrel pulling the fire alarm. Was that scoundrel Marty Scorsese? It's not for me to say, even though I bet Scorsese calls himself Marty when he is doing hoodrat shit with his friends.
Nonetheless, here's a tip of the cap to TMZ for using a big movie to garner some clicks, which is exactly what I was asked to do for this blog, which is dragged on way to long like Scorsese's latest flick. So consider your click my mission being accomplished and for anyone wondering, I think Oppenheimer smoked Killers Of The Flower Moon.
