The Jets Offense Being This Horrible Is A Bigger Issue Than Aaron Rodgers Being Hurt

If this was a fair and just world, Aaron Rodgers wouldn't have gotten hurt in the first quarter of his first game as a Jet. That was yet another cruel misfortune in a long line of cruel misfortunes for Jets fans. We wonder constantly what we did wrong to end up rooting for this team. This will be the 14th year in a row that the Jets miss the playoffs in a league known for parity. I'm very blessed that I don't have many regrets in life. But I am pretty confident that while I am shuffling off this mortal coil, I'll be wishing I didn't spend so many beautiful Fall Sundays watching this horseshit football team.

The Jets haven't scored 14 points in a single game since October 15th. How long ago was that? The NLCS between the Diamondbacks and Phillies hadn't even started yet! They have scored 58 points in their last six games COMBINED. At some point, this goes far beyond Aaron Rodgers being hurt. You have an entire offense that is apparently not ready to play at an NFL level. That blame has to fall on Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, Nathaniel Hackett and this offensive coaching staff.

Clearly only having Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle as your backups to start a season is a mistake. It's even more of a mistake when that starting QB was born in 1983. But that can be somewhat forgivable. Rodgers is old as shit but he's also been very durable. My issue is what the Jets did after Rodgers got hurt.

Nothing.

They could have traded for Josh Dobbs, signed Carson Wentz or done any other move beyond bringing in an awful Trevor Siemian. But even if they had traded for Dobbs, would it have made a difference? This offense appears entirely lost week in and week out. The offensive line is either awful, hurt or both. Garrett Wilson is an awesome WR but there is no depth after that. Allen Lazard was even a healthy scratch one week. Dalvin Cook has been awful with a 3.2 yards per rush going into today's game…where he promptly fumbled.

It sounds like Douglas, Saleh and even Hackett are safe because Rodgers likes them. Woody Johnson doesn't want to do anything to upset the future Hall of Famer so they'll all be here in 2024. But they shouldn't be. I'd be fine with all of them being gone. This team is another nightmare. Right now the Jets are on pace to get the 7th pick. It'll only get worse from here. Good teams don't completely collapse to become one of the worst teams in the NFL just because the quarterback goes down.

The Jets problems aren't going to heal along with Aaron Rodgers' Achilles. This team is still broken.
