Shaq Leonard Is Signing With The Eagles, Proves Once And For All That Howie Roseman Never Sleeps
Howie! Howie! Howie! Howie! That right there is how you get that horrible, vile taste of defeat out of your mouth.
The Philadelphia Eagles got their shit shoved in by the 49ers yesterday. The defense gave up a touchdown on 6 straight drives. They completely forgot how to tackle. They've been getting carved up in the middle of the field all season long.
So what does Howie Roseman go out and do after the Eagles' most embarrassing performance of the season? He sees a problem and he finds a solution. Shaq Leonard, YOU are a Philadelphia Eagle.
This fucking guy, man. I don't know how he keeps doing it. I don't know how every other GM in the league keeps letting him get away with it. Howie Roseman is never going to sit around and just accept a flaw in the Eagles' roster. He knows that the linebacker position for this team is putrid. The whole city knows the Eagles linebackers are a mess. He's not just going to put his palms up in the air and accept it. He's not just going to roll the dice and hope the Eagles' defense can overcome that blatant hole in the playoffs. He's going to go out and lock up a guy who is a 3x first team All-Pro linebacker. A 3x Pro Bowler. A guy who led the league in forced fumbles just a few seasons ago. The Eagles defense NEEDS to start creating turnovers, and now they just got one of the best in the biz.
And on top of everything? He keeps Shaq Leonard out of Dallas. Cowboys fans had to be ejaculating into their pants yesterday watching the Eagles lose to San Francisco and also having the hopes of signing Shaq Leonard to close out their season. But now he's an Eagle, and now maybe this defense will get a shot of life injected into them heading into the playoffs. The Eagles may have lost the battle yesterday, but this is a huge move to get them back into the war.
P.S. -- Say what you want about Nick Sirianni, but this man has to be one of the best recruiters in the NFL. I know he already had a prior relation with the guy, but clearly he's the type of coach that guys want to play for again.
